Staff Editorial – “Time to fully fund our future” – Dec. 2013 (WRITING)
I authored this staff editorial in support of ballot initiatives in support of propositions to fund our school district’s levies. This editorial demonstrates my understanding of public issues, as well as my intention to help students understand issues that dramatically affect them.

Letter from the Editor – “Tinker’s message to students: take action now” – May 2014 (WRITING)
This brief column is an example of the “Letter from the Editor” column I created to appear in each issue. This column allows me to explain certain decisions, made by the staff, to the readers. This particular column regarding the Tinker Tour should speak to our staff’s commitment to protecting the First Amendment by hosting special events and by spreading awareness of issues relating to the First Amendment.

Staff Editorial – “Requiring students to stand for pledge of allegiance violates students rights” – Feb. 2015 (WRITING)
I authored this staff editorial which ran in our February edition. This column again demonstrates our publication’s ability to advocate for students’ rights. There had been a common practice by several teachers in which teachers required students to stand for the pledge. I explained in this column why that was a violation of students’ First Amendment rights.
Staff Editorials: “Why arguments against gun control are flawed” (Page 4) & “Take the lead on ending gun violence now” (Page 5) – Nov. 2014 (WRITING)
I authored both of these staff editorials that ran following the tragic shooting at Marysville Pilchuck High School. These columns were written to provide some clarity and suggest alternative solutions following the debate that was happening surrounding gun control legislation.
